Chocolate Sauce Special

When ingredients were limited, and obtaining fresh fruit was a bit hit and miss, Rosemary had a couple of good dessert sauce recipes up her sleeve to put on icecream. She always had a can of evaporated milk in the cupboard, and a packet of cocoa. This one got her VG tick (Very Good!).

Ingredients:

  • 4 x tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 x cup of sugar
  • 4 x tablespoons of boiling water
  • 1 x 375 can of evaporated milk
  • 30 x grams of butter
  • 1 x teaspoon of vanilla

Method:

  • In a saucepan, mix cocoa and sugar until there are no lumps
  • Add boiling water
  • Stir until smooth
  • Put on cooktop on medium heat and gradually add milk, stirring
  • When boiling, add butter
  • Add vanilla
  • Pour onto anything you like!
